Jostein is going to make a vector file of the floorplans including details such as how light/dark room is and where the power points are located.

Meetings

Design group for the show are meeting tomorrow at 11.00 in the third year studio.
Brief: ‘Come up with a simple unifying element for all visual material that will encaptulate the breakout/rethinking of what a degree show should entail’

They are then meeting on the Friday at 11.00 (3ys) to finalise and then the rest of the committee will join them at 12.00. Decision will be presented and organisation of space will be attempted to be finalised.

Each of these named people are to email their pathway/group letting their peeps know that their is a year meeting June 2nd 11th Floor RLS, and it is their last chance to pay the £40. If they miss that deadline then they must pay £60.

They are also to notify them that each student must know what they will be exhibiting and the requirements of that piece by Tuesday June 2nd. As people organising each room MUST have an idea of this in order to proceed, simple shit.

I think it’s going to be a busy few weeks…

Update from 14th April

Greetings

In short:

  • there is a party on Monday at The Dolphin (see below for details)
  • The year photo at the moment is going in the direction of a school photo but much more lively and active, maybe even a ‘flash photo shoot’
  • There will be a jumble sale on the 27th April, more detail will be posted
  • If you are available to sell two or three t-shirts/bags to friends and family speak to Louise to do so
  • Talks are on the 8th of may. Buy a ticket.
  • Sponsorship…Not looking great really, need lots of help on this front, Felix/Monica will follow up on this front. Also suggestions for alcohol sponsorship, if you have any speak to Rich.

Idea to give everyone 3 t-shirts each to sell individual, shift to friends.

Set up a rack/stall to be held outside uni.

Website
Every student has a 3 digit code. Numbers assigned to each student, people can text you direct to your number.
Tagging system done and easy to add.
Aesthetics can now be implemented, show shit on Monday (first day back)
Relevant images of events, posters, photos, promotional materials etc. to be given to Neville

Talks
8th May, G12. Question of price. £7/£10?
150 seats available. Day tickets, individual lectures.

Be a great chance to get the ball rolling before we get back into Uni and the craze of work! And for young Mou.

Update on what stage we are at and what you need, I know myself personally I haven’t supplied any of the stuff from Stina’s email, Monday would be a good deadline for everyone to get that in.

12.30: Bric a brac
Update on how its all going, any ideas to take on during term to shift all this gear? Need to get posters up at uni? Or design a stall/space in uni to sell it?

14.00: Year photo

Present the idea. If all ok, fuck off and get the ball rolling.

15.15: Party
General update, is it going to happen? What do you need?

Degree show meeting tomorrow

There is going to be a short degree show meeting tomorrow 10.30 in the third year design studio.

It would be great to get an update what all the groups have been up to and to make sure everything’s going ok.

Update from 3rd March

Hellooo ha. Good dinner team.
Here is an update of the show according to what I have been updated with. Apologies if it is ever so slightly off.

T-Shirts
Joe is off to Istanbul as of Thursday. Louise will be heading up in place.
Designs and illustrations to Steve/Louise. We need volunteers for screen printing during the final week of term and possibly next week. The main screen printing day will be on the Thursday 19th of March. The entire screen printing has been booked, all the beds, the entire room. We’ll need lots of help, even if you haven’t screen printed before. It will be a fantastic opportunity for all of us to work together.

Garage Sale
Bring stuff in on Friday. Louise/Francesco/Surya will give more details. However for now all we need to know is there will be a collection point this Friday for old t-shirts/jumpers/books/games/cards etc.
This is panning out to be a fantastic event and I cannot wait to participate within the event!

Alcohol
Rich and Ollie you both need to liase with Felix/Monika. He should have the finalized pdf sponsorship pack.

Party
Jack will be away in Istanbul.
Wesley, ‘Anything But’ is booking the photo studio in the last week of term to hold an inter-year party. It might be an idea to organize a venue after?

Website Design
The main designers for this seems to be Jo/Tom/Adam/Neville/Ronin. However Stina/Louise will organise this group?

Sponsorship
We need more contacts. Leave a comment on this post with the relevant contacts or speak to Felix/Monika.

Publication
Felix, Annett and I will be meeting with Fedrigoni on Wednesday, we will update this post as to its next direction.

Degree Show Meeting 17 Feb

Hi all,

Seeing that we all have (hopefully) handed in our portfolios, we have to keep things rolling! Meeting tomorrow, 17 Feb as usual at 10:30 am in the 3rd year design studio. Topics to for tomorrow:

• discuss and finalize the design for the sponsor info pack
• how do we integrate the movie in the sponsor info pack
• collect contacts of sponsors -> don’t forget to bring this to the meeting!
• future fund raising events, ie garage sale, more cake sales, etc.
• future proceedings

Fedrigoni Paper visit

Hi all,

I managed to convince Fedrigoni Paper (the Rolls Royce of paper makers) that you are the awesomest bunch of talent on the market and so we agreed on a visit to their brand new Clerkenwell showroom on

Tuesday 24 February at 10am

We’ll get (early) lunch from them and chat about the following:

  • possibility to print your work on their paper (they may even be able to pay for printing)
  • exhibiting your work in their showroom (they get many visits each day from design studios so it’s a great opportunity to show your work)
  • running a competition (we can decide on the format) with top prizes such as the full Creative Suite or a MacBook
  • them doing a talk about choosing paper, paper mechanics at CSM
  • giving you lots of paper swatches/samples

I think we are lucky to get this, so can you please confirm in the comments that you’ll attend. We can take about 25 students and will give preference to those who invest their time and energy in planning the show.

What you missed and what’s coming up

Hi everyone

Yesterday we discussed a lot of the website framework so Neville could develop that along. It was mainly based on how the website would work – how you would search and find people. In short we the pathways have not become defined by the people who chose them but by the work that is shown on the site. For example a designers work could appear in the moving image section if he/she did a piece that was categorized as moving image. The categories will be posted up later to be explained and commented on

In terms of an ‘identity’ last week we realised that its not what we really needed – not for now at least. We’re starting to look for more of a theme, but for the moment it’s not the most important part to develop. After speaking with Val we also realized that most themes/identities get lost within the show. For now lets aim for the basics and get things done and then we can develop things further.

Next Monday will be more focussed on fundraising – events, alcohol, parties, more events, and much more parties and maybe some letters…

And if anyone wants to get more involved with the organisation of the show etc. leave a comment.
